ART OF FILM

Develop a tangible knowledge of the art and history of cinematography, concentrating on developing higher- level appreciation for creating the moving visual image. Course work matches theory with practical assignments involving sound, lighting and directing, as well as camera and editing techniques. Students will be exposed to new media technologies including You Tube, Viral Video, and components of Web 2.0. Application of theory includes creating a short film and experimental filmmaking. Students will be able to dissect a shot and interpret a scene as they would interpret a page of text. Students will also have the opportunity to meet industry professionals at special events.
